HYI Trip to Vietnam and Cambodia — April 20-29, 2009

As part of a new collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), a HYI-NUS team (with Professor Hendrik Meyer-Ohle, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, NUS, and Dr. Nguyen Nam of HYI) traveled to Cambodia and Vietnam from April 20-29, 2009 to introduce the HYI-NUS joint doctoral scholarship.

In addition to their meetings with HYI partner institutions, they also met Vietnamese alumni in Hanoi (April 27) and Ho Chi Minh City (April 28). During the dinner in Hanoi, it was agreed that HYI Vietnamese alumni groups should have their representatives in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.  Dr. VU Thi Thanh Huong (Institute of Linguistics) and Dr. TRAN Thi Bich Ngoc (Southern Institute of Sustainable Developments, HCMC) have accepted the nomination to be the HYI groups’ representatives in Hanoi and southern region (including HCMC,Hue, Dalat, and Cantho) respectively. With the assistance of Dr. Huong and Dr. Ngoc, we look forward to future development of the HYI network in Vietnam.
